Bestinvest is a pioneer of combined asset allocation and in-depth research and has offered a range of model portfolios since the late1990s.
We have always believed that asset allocation is the primary determinant behind investment performance, with stock selection and market timing playing supporting roles. Wide diversification (blending assets such as equities, bonds, property and alternatives) helps to reduce risk and also gives exposure to many different strategies for achieving returns. Our asset allocation committee meets regularly and sets target asset mixes for each of our models.
The next phase is to carefully research the best fund managers in each of the various asset classes. Bestinvest has a highly resourced research team which conducts more than 400 fund manager interviews a year. Our in depth research is supplemented by using sophisticated software including the Bestinvest Manager Record Index (MRI) database of fund manager track records which follows fund managers’ performance across their whole careers.
Bestinvest was formed in 1986 and looks after more than £4 billion of client assets. The quality of our services has been recognised on a number of occasions and in 2011 Bestinvest won the Money Marketing award for ‘Best Discretionary Adviser’ while Financial Times and Investors Chronicle readers voted Bestinvest not only the ‘UK Wealth Manager of the Year’ but also the ‘Best Wealth Manager for Investments’.
Bestinvest can make available, to strategic partners, its range of 14 model portfolios that follow the same rigorous process as highlighted above.
